I can't believe it! It hasn't happened to me in a long time, but someone behind me wasn't paying attention :(. I couldn't help but think "OMG what if I had a bird in the car!!! :11: I always keep my birds in a carrier, but from now on, I think I might ALSO seat belt the carrier in!

I'll admit, this is the same car that in February, when I had TONS of things on my mind as well as being just about as stressed out as I've been lately... I backed into the police car in a parking lot some of you might remember :52:.

That incident left a small dent in the rear bumper, which wasn't worth fixing for the price of the estimate. It wasn't too noticeable. Well, since this kid rear ended me today, and thankfully he had insurance, I guess that bumper will get replaced for free now since it has a BIG boo boo on it which wasn't my fault. His front hood was folded up pretty bad.

It was not that fast, since we were approaching a stop light. Still, my head hit the headrest with some force. I had a headache for a while til I laid down, so of course I thought AGAIN (just like when I fell and hit my head last month) 'oh no!!! I'm going to have an aneurism and die because it runs in my family!'

I feel fine now :) More insurance company crap to keep me busy upcoming :31:

I'm sorry to hear you got in an accident:( On the bright side, no one was hurt and you'll be getting a new bumper when you needed one:) You'll probably also get some "bonus" money if you sign off that you weren't hurt (it doesn't sound like you were, and I hope thats the case). Perhaps a little good will come from your inconvenience;) I swear they design cars now to crumple and have maximum cosmetic damage even at low speeds and minor bumps that really shouldn't cause as much damage as they do. It's some kind of racket between car companies and auto shops, I swear lol.

I got rear ended a few years back stopped at a light. The guys insurance replaced my back AND front bumper. The back just got a dent from him hitting me but they still replaced it and the front I did some more serious damage to and complained up a storm because I nailed a curb pulling into a spot so fast to get his plate number because he wasn't stopping (hit and run, and likely driving drunk according to the cop who found him). Then they gave me $1000 to sign off that I had no medical problems resulting from the crash. Not bad considering I needed new bumpers (chipped up from road wear) and just got a minor jolt from him hitting me.

Wow April, you scored! :) Blessing in disguise for sure. I do hurt a little tonight here and there, but I feel like it will go away. Ugh! It's not like we can stop driving !

I would definitely make sure you're ok and have no lasting effects past the soreness from the jolt, but I think insurers now want to get people off their backs before they start claiming tons of money in medical from minor accidents. Hope you score some "pain and suffering" money too;) If nothing else, it's a lot of pain and suffering to deal with those insurance companies!

So sorry that you were in an accident, Julie! But I'm so glad that you weren't seriously hurt. And I definitely second what April said about getting checked out and making sure everything is okay.

How are you this morning, my friend?

So glad you are fine!! It is a major pain in the butt, but at least it can be fixed and will one day be just a memory.

What you say about the birds in the seatbelts---I friended someone (friend of friend on Facebook) who lost her conure right after I lost Georgie. She also had a situation where someone hit her and her bird lost his life.....and it was the type of accident that he would have probably been fine if he had been strapped in, in a carrier.

Because of her, I promised to always keep Gil secured with a seat belt. (He rides in the back and the dogs ride on the passenger seat in a carrier with the passenger air bag off).

Julie, the hits just keep coming for you, my friend:( I am so glad you are okay, but I agree that you should get checked out. Those soft tissue injuries sometimes take a couple of days to really get to hurting. Sending you gentle hugs.

Very Very Sorry Julie, So Glad you are not hurt !! Cars can be replaced !!

HUGS

Thanks so much everyone :) I feel fine right now... and crossing my fingers.
Just a little sore from the gym actually (which is where I was leaving when it happened)!
I am hoping all goes smoothly. It's a PITA, but not as much as it is for the person at fault. At least I get a new perfect bumper now to look at the positive side of it!
