Really, how bad is soy??

In reference to my post about my ill Parrotlet, my vet told me to schedule an appointment with an avian specialist (which I did) but in the mean time syringe feed him some baby food and a product called Isomil, which he has had success with in the past. However, the formula is soy based and I have seen many mixed feelings on birds and soy. I trust my vet as he has given me very sound advice in the past and has experience with the product but I was just wondering, is the conspiracy with soy really a thing?

Almost all pellets, even most of the supposedly awesome ones (like Harrison's) contain soy. I think the horror stories are unsubstantiated human anecdotes, so I'm not worrying about it. Food paranoia is rampant. YMMV though and its just my opinion.
