Real trees from a nursery for an Umbrella Cockatoo?

What I want to know is, can I go to a nursery and get my umbrella cockatoo a real tree? (a tree that does NOT have to be planted outside) Or a big house plant almost tree like as long as there is no pesticides and stuff on them? I know what woods she can have, but I can't find anything about potentially poisonous leaves. What about fake trees? They are hard to find, but if I do find any, what material should I avoid?

Haha! I have a male umbrella 'too and he would have a potted tree in a million pieces within 2 hrs. Not kidding. You could get her a tree, for her enjoyment, but don't expect it to be around long! The same with a big house plant. I'm thinking that your best bet would be to get her a wooden stand/perch and hang stuff for her to destroy, off of it.

I have all that for her and more, but I really want to give her a "foresty" feel. I'm sure she will have them torn up in a couple hours too, but I would like to give her that luxury of chewing it up without worrying about the leaves. So are there any trees I can get? Or do the nurserys cover them in pesticides?

I don't know about pesticides on nursery plants, you could ask them. Also, you will have to investigate what is poisonous to U2's. I live in central California, my U2 lives mostly outdoors, not in a cage, he's never had any ill effects from the local fauna, and I know for a fact that oak trees are safe. Manzanita trees, apricot, peach, grape vines, and blackberry bushes are safe. We don't spray any pesticides, so I don't worry.

Aww! Your bird is the lucky one!! Here in Washington state I think it's too cold, but I would LOVE to be able to give her an entire yard and trees to play in!! Thank you!! I just found a list of trees and foliage safe & not safe for them, so I am headed to the nursery when I'm off work to see what they can do for me.
