Princess Rome- Moluccan Cockatoo (18yrs old), Rosie - Galah/Rose Breasted Cockatoo (2yr old)
I was going to be in Miami visiting family, so I decided to cruise CL ads (since the rescue options weren't going so hot). Well I came across an RB2! Her name is Rosie (of course). Shes only 1 1/2 yrs old. Her previous owner was allergic to her dander. She was very well cared for and is so sweet. I'm super excited. I've wanted one for a long time but kind of gave up the search, re-home RB2s are not easy to find around here. We will probably keep the name, she gets really excited and dances when you say it.

She is absolutly beautiful. Lucky you. and congrats:)

Wow, she's lovely. However, those eyes look really dark. Are you sure it's a female? My male has dark eyes like that. I thought females had the lighter eyes. In any case, you're going to LOVE her. I think RB2s make the almost perfect pet parrot.

She is absolutely gorgeous! Congrats on adopting her!

awww she's a cutie batootie:) seeing the rb2 abbreviation made me think of the song ruby tuesday. that would be a good name to name a rb2. ......... im in the process of learning the bird breed lingo. when i first saw rb2, i was like WHAT IS THAT? lol so then i had to check it out. sorry for being so random on this post. just had to say it.

She is beautiful! She has a lovely pale grey and yet has a rich pink... very interesting! She looks happy and healthy :D Congratulations.

Her eyes wont change colour for a while now :p And apparently some females have dark eyes for life. But if she is just DNA sexed they may have made a mistake, surgical sexing is apparently the only way to be 100% sure. Not that it really matters whether Rosie is a boy or girl. I would never have guessed Mana is a girl, she is very outgoing and vocal and is already talking... she has a larger vocabulary than my older male galah Larry did and she is only 4 months old.

Awww so cute, I love Galahs so much! I also have a Galah named Rosie lol

Yeah, I wanted to rename her. Tommy's response was 'why, thats a good name' I told him I wanted to rename her because almost every female is named Rosie. As it stands right now we will probably keep it.

So far just from day one I have learned: keep her away from keyboards, that tiny little beak is very destructive, she likes to chew on leather (specifically my couch), she also likes to chew lettering off of T-shirts, she is a busy busy girl that is in to everything. Shes already adjusting well. I set up her cage in the living room and just let her be, while I sat on the couch. After about 30min, she climbed down her cage walked across the floor and came to me to be picked up. I think her ulterior motive was the keyboard keys. She was relentless to get to them, at one point even hanging upside down off my fingers. I am so in love with her already. I also didn't realize how soft they are. Petting her is like touching baby powder. I LOVE her personality!

They have perfect little temperaments don't they?

I think its because their social life is similar to humans. They pair up for life in most circumstances (though they do occasionally "break up" if it isn't working out) and spend most of their time together, they keep their children around for quite a while and travel in small family groups. They get together in big flocks at feeding time or roosting time especially in the non breeding season. They happily socialise with birds of their own species they haven't met before. And they will even be social with other parrot species feeding in the same place. Its especially nice to see them in the suburbs of QLD where their habits are more obvious because there are fewer birds. You will see little family groups moving around, mum & dad and a couple of little grey bubs in tow. And to see a single galah sitting on power lines screaming its heart out because it can't locate its mate. :(
