I came upon this today, and I thought I would share it. It's sad, what some people do these days to animals. I'm glad everything ended up okay for those poor birds, though. They said he could have 5 years of jail time, but I think he should have more.:D:p

I saw this come through FB and couldn't figure out how to share the link here, made me sick! Poor babies! I agree that the criminals should get WAY more time than that!

OMG, I saw that on news last morning (have a setting on google news with "parrots", so I get all the parrots news right away). Horrible, just really horrible...
I wanna put that smuggler guy into the bottle and ship him on 20 hour flight!

I saw the story on CNN and was sickened. Those pics are terribly haunting and ought to be exhibit "A" in assessing the highest penalties possible. Sadly, 5 years in prison is a mere token for these barbaric acts that occur daily in so many venues.

I saw it too. My LSC2 just passed away and it made me sick. I know they have to document it but it looks like are having a photo shoot, you would think they would have gotten them out of the bottles ASAP. The article I read on CNN said 5 died.

It's hard to believe the penalty for such a horrific crime was a mere five years. Unbelievable what people will do to make a profit.

Those poor birds!!!! :(

1. It made me sick.
2. It's so tiny a space i couldn't figure out how they managed to get them in there...
3. I don't know how the ones that survived managed to breathe.
4. IF THERE TRULY IS A HELL, THEN THESE PEOPLE WILL END UP SPENDING ETERNITY WITH THEIR SOULS CRAMMED INTO A LITTLE PLASTIC BOTTLE...

Baby Stingrays look like ravioli stuffed with tiny damned souls...maybe that is the fate of creeps like that! Stuffed in ravioli not as stingrays, that would be too good for them.

Same exact thought occurred to me! All those pics and not a one depicting the birds being removed from the bottles. I suppose they might have wanted a more secure environment before releasing them, but I'd have been worried for their lives trapped in those things.

And the man responsible disgusts me. The things people will do for money. It was hard to look at those pics. it must take a special brand of moral bankruptcy to actually go through the act of stuffing those poor 'toos into those little bottles. Wow.

Not wanting sound clinical. But they take Photos to provide solid evidence to convict this monster. Hope that the photos disgust and sicken the judge to the point where he gives out the maximum penalty for each bird that was in a bottle.

Also I would prefer that as soon has the photos of the birds in the bottles are taken, they will put down the cameras and release them from the bottles ASAP.

I can not tell you how much it hurts me that people are capable of putting animals through such horrible things. Every day there are new reports of animal abuse. Pets not being fed, while their masters are stuffing their faces, rhinos being hacked to death, dog fighting and now this. I hope that karma really takes care of each and every one of these monsters, because the law just gives them a slap on the wrist. I am very sad now.

LOL Labell! Your post made me laugh more than I have ever had for a while now. This shows the strength and the commitment to live that all our parrots, have, I believe. I wouldn't be able to live in a tight fitting tube with only a small hole to breathe from.

I need to go back and read the article, but they are basically arresting him for smuggling Endangered Wildlife. But what about Animal Cruelty? That's as good as Animal Cruelty can get, in my opinion.

I hope that their court system has what the Texas criminal has: the jury deciding on the penalty. Anyone who sees that surely has to want to put that guy away for a LONG time. That is just sick.
