One of my dream birds is an African grey,well my husband "over heard" some women talking at his job and one tells the other that she couldn't find anyone to take her bird,so she let him out at Lowes,fully flighted and he flew away...hubby ask her whatnknd of bird and she said it was a grey something with a red tail,someone had given her,he says African grey? She said yea yea..that was it! First of all the species is actually irrelevant, how could anyone be so cruel???? As to just let it go,surely he will die and unkind death...people make me sick! End rant!!!!!!:11:

OMG! That's one of the worst I've ever heard… It's like throwing your dog out on highway. Is there a limit of human cruelty? If it was inside the store I hope so much that somebody had picked him up and adopted.

Argh!!! Call animal control and maybe they will help you. Do you know how long it's been out there? You must be heart broken knowing that you would have taken it in your home and someone just let it go. I hope it finds a good home and that home is yours.

he will still be within a six mile radius of where she let him go... Cold and hungry and disoriented.

Find him and you not only save his life, you get your gray.

We found three of them in one week!

But, yeah, that's pretty much a death sentence... Unless someone finds him.

People suck sometimes... This is one of those times.

Several of the rescues in my "zoo" were pets that were no longer wanted and "set free". The depths of human cruelty seems to be boundless. How those people can face themselves in the mirror is beyond me.

Even though I know how cruel humans can be, STILL it shocks me to hear of it.
Since she bothered to put the bird in the car, and bothered to drive with it somewhere, WHY couldn't she AT LEAST drive it to an animal shelter, or even dropping it off anonymously at the door somewhere where she knew someone could take it in would have been way more decent! Maybe Lowe's was closer . Ugh how awful!!! ,

I guess we can only hope a kind soul found the bird and after being unable to find the owner (since she wasn't looking) gave the bird a good home and good life. And we may not see it, but karma will catch up with her. She'll be "turned loose" by someone she loves and trusts someday. Anyone with that kind of attitude towards animals has that kind of attitude towards humans, only other humans have the option (and WILL) drop her like a rock at every stage of her life (unlike a bird, who does not have the option).

That is just CRAZY!!! What is wrong with her??? Seriously, how hard would it be to get rid of a CAG especially if she was obviously willing to give it away! I hope you can find it and give this bird the loving home that it deserves!!

Find out the bird's name. Put an ad in the lost and found on Craigs list. Put up lost bird flyers in the neighborhood. Maybe someone will find him, and he will find a better home with an owner who actually gives a damn whether he lives or dies...

Same planet different worlds department...

I just finished three weeks of owners (myself included) pulling out all the stops in the hopes of finding their lost bird...

This ignorant person just happily sent theirs off to his death. Fly and be free!

No flock for protection from predators, no wild forraging skills, probably an indoor bird not acclimated to the outdoors, no shelter, winter on it's way...

The one I found was out there for ten days, and was so weak that he didn't have the strength to fly away from me anymore.

The good news is when they get completely lost and get hungry enough, captive birds go looking for a sympathetic person to take care of them. THAT is how you find them and get them back. It's part of their survival instinct. I DIDN'T LEARN TO FORAGE FOR FOOD AND WATER. I LEARNED PEOPLE GIVE ME FOOD AND WATER. FIND PEOPLE AND I FIND FOOD AND WATER.

Words cannot describe the grotesque abuse that despicable woman committed against a tamed and innocent being.

Depending on how long ago this vicious act occurred, perhaps Birdman's well-proven techniques might save a life.

From the POV of justice, is there any chance this vulgar person can be sanctioned? it appears to be hearsay, but she seemed proud of her vile act and might be sufficiently stupid and reckless to repeat the story with greater detail.
