was chatting to some1 at work yesterday and something she said, has annoyed an distressed me sooo much

i was chatting about nut, and i asked how her parents parrot was, she told me her parents had one, when i got nut.
her reply was, its an annoying thing, won't shut up so they've stuck out in the back! (they have a gray)

to say i am horrified by that comment, especially from some1 that spoils her rabbits an dog rotten, how can ppl be so bias in terms of what is basically neglect and cruelty, but consider it ok for a bird to remain caged and left alone and out of the way in a house. as far as i know they are an elderly retired couple and live by them selves

i've no idea how old the bird is, and to make matter worse i've a feeling they got one, for the simple reason, cos its more interesting then a budgie.

i think it will take some time, but i will put forward a suggestion, i will take it of there hands (they live just down the road from me, but i do not know them) so i need to act tactfully (well without putting there noses out) but this can take some months

Yes go for it, I am sutre they will be happy getting the bird out of the house and that the bird will be happy moving in to you

hubs is not keen on the idea of another bird,
i know there are so many birds/animals that live in these lonely conditions, were ppl have just got bored with them, but to know that its just down the road from me, and i might be able to do something about it, thats whats making me go for it, but like i said, it needs to be done so the idea is theres, so to speak, if there is even a hint of, i think they are neglecting, then i can kiss any chance of helping this bird good bye.

i do not think the bird is in imediate danger, i just feel very strongly about how its kept and how it gets refered to

Rescue, rehab and rehome? I know you guys have a bit of a handful with nut, but if you can manage to give the Grey a 'safehouse' whilst trying to find him his forever home surely hubby can't object too much?

But yes, approach with caution, you don't wanna put these peoples backs up. x

yes i did think on them lines mayden, but knowing me, this will be its home if i get lucky,

kerry the bird is out back way, so it would look very odd if i went that way, plus the lay out of the house both front and back gardens are long

i think my best way to handle this would be to drop the idea about, that i'm thinking of another bird?? and see how it goes from there

oh and the whole family took great delight in the bird swearing, but according to the woman i work with, it just screams now. i think she already knows how i feel, as my reply to that was *cos how its being kept is cruel

If you cannot help him directly, write an anonymous letter to the SPCA or Humane Society (if you don't want to be involved). They'll send an Investigator out to make sure this bird is not being neglected or abused.
