Random Update

Hey everyone!

So I haven't given an update in awhile and I figured it was about time.

For those of you who don't know, I rescued a 3 month old Scarlet Macaw, who I named Phoenix. He wasn't being taken care of properly and was starving when I got him. He's become my best friend and my baby.

So fast forward a few months and he's now 7 months old, bad and beautiful! LOL
He's truly become part of the family. I had to switch his food recently because the Exact Bird Formula I was feeding him wasn't putting weight on him at all. He's now on soaked Tropican Parrot Pellets mixed with baby food, he loves it and is gaining weight.

Have you tried mixing the baby food with the formula? All mine were raised that way taught to me by my breeder.

Thanks for the update! I've seen some of your original pictures of Phoenix and he sure is a sweet looking baby Scarlet . Do you have any new photos of him by chance?

A lot of the pellets are balanced diet, not for gaining weight or used to feed birds that's under weight. I found that out many years ago when my birds got sick and couldn't gain their weight back until I had to make some changes. I think the pictures you were trying to post didn't show....

Thanks so much for updating us on your Phoenix. I agree with Wharf about adding baby food to the formula rather than the soaked Tropican.

But hey, if it's working for you, then great.

And yes, pictures would be awesome.

I've already tried mixing the baby food with the formula and it didn't seem to put any weight on him, he's been gaining weight since I started him on the tropican/baby food.

He's settled in so well and is now used to all the other birds, dogs and cat. He chases them around the house all in good fun too.

He is VERY cuddly and cute! He loves to be close and cuddled into your neck. He also announces himself quite spectacularly when we go into pet stores LOL

Phoenix is a real beauty!! I love how bright his red is & I love his name. Glad that he is gaining weight & is doing good. Macaws are such wonderful awesome creatures!
