Random Foods

Since it is thanksgiving, I will have Justine with me during the festivities at my parents house. She is getting more and more curious when food is around.

What treats or foods do people think I could give to her? She likes noodles and rice. One time I had rice soup and she started to eat some but super fast. I thought she was going to choke if she ate fast.

Small amounts of the most basic foods might be safest. Unfortunately most Thanksgiving foods are high in the trifecta of salt, sugar, and fat!

Plain turkey, the inside of candied yams, a dab of pumpkin pie, tiny bits of stuffing, a piece of whole cranberry, a bit of nut from fruitcake....

If Justine is friendly with other people, perhaps her greatest "treat" will be the gift of attention?

On thanksgiving she was sleepy most of the evening. I have her a Peanut butter snack and she are some seeds in her cage but when people started arriving she did not make much noise. Had me a little worried that it could have been something she ate.. But the day after she was fine. A friend of mine said her sleep schedule could been off since we had daylight savings. She is used to going to sleep later but since it gets darker earlier it looks like it is way late but its only 5 or 6 pm.

To keep Rocky happy inside his cage (he objects to my brother rather strenuously as he was abused by men in the past), I gave him some mashed potatoes and turkey to eat while we ate our dinner. He actually ate almost all of it and was mostly contented, though he of course would have preferred to be at the table as he often is during meals. I first assured him the turkey was no one he knew. LOL

interesting. When I am over at my moms and we are eating she usually walks over to us and up to the table and eats normal fool. If we put her back she just gets back down and comes back. When there are others other for dinner, she sometimes just sits there and sleeps or walks around the cage. I think the more people that are around the less hyper she is.. Yet when I take her to the store on the weekend for her field trip she is active,

Just wanted to say that I LOVE Justine's Scrapbook!!!!!!!!!!!

Our DYH Amazon was at his normal place at the table and had his normal cross-section of the day's offering on the plate in front of him. But than he saw the two huge Drum Sticks sitting proudly in the center of the table laying against the stack of sliced white meat. In a smooth fluid motion 'transfixed' on the Tall Sticks in front of him he made a straight line for them. Standing in front of them he stopped to take in just their size and likely his ease of getting to this spot.

Out of the corner of his eye, he caught the sight of me moving his way and was clearly torn as to whether to lift his foot or grab at least one of the Legs and make a run for it. Thankfully, training won out as he Stepped-Up! Once on my finger, I obtained a Leg and all was well as he quickly broke the bone and started to remove his favorite part of its interior!

yeah.. I know about that but sometimes I worry that certain foods might have a mixture of different ingredients. some powders for like curry or indian foods might have a dried version of avocado in it.. so if there are mixed items in like rice or noodles I usually look for the plain strings and rice to give her.
