I have a galah named Eli and a rainbow lorikeet named Jake.
Hi
I have a galah named Eli and I would like to know what treats I can feed him.

I've tried sunflower seeds, almonds, peanuts, lettuce, carrot, apple, pear, pealed figs and banana.

But he doesn't eat any of them! All he eats is wheat!

What should I do?

Thanks

JakeEli

Eli is four months old, is that right? I don't have a galah, but my Umbrella Too prefers fresh food that doubles as foot toys, pomegranate, sugar snap peas, cucumber, pumpkin seed, dry veggie pasta, millet, star anise, carrots, blue berries, strawberries, kiwi, mango, pineapple, papaya, and coconut. I've found the best way to encourage a Too to eat a new food is to let him/her see you eating it, food tastes better if it's stolen from or shared with a human.

I too (!) don't have a Galah, but my cockatoos generally love yams, sweet potatoes, garbanzo beans, and banana. Some like oranges and assorted beans, such as kidney and pinto. They ALL wolf down a small bit of string cheese given weekly.

Eli is still very young and impressionable! Keep offering food and be prepared for it to be dropped from the beak or hurled from a treat bowl. One day, perhaps weeks, months, or even years, that dreaded food item will be tasted and possibly enjoyed!

Unsalted, unsweetened Popcorn?

I can't get Rocky to try anything. I offered him banana and ate some in front of him. Yawn. Eggs? Disdain. Grapes? Beneath his dignity. A cracker? The box is fun to destroy but he won't eat a cracker. Even the little parrots were willing to try eggs!

Our birds like sunflower seeds, safflower seeds, almonds, walnuts and Nutri-Berries.
Trevor really likes pumpkin seeds and Mildred really likes cedar nuts.
