Hello, First of all I soooo appreciate being able to come here for help!! Thank you to all that give me advice!!!
So, my Kiwi has been here a week now. I know it's still in the adjustment phase. I've been taking it slow. He has been at ease after he wakes up and when I take him into my office. He really likes it in there. He's come out of his cage and he has been singing and eating really well, even took a bath. Then this weekend since I am not working we are in the living/kitchen area which is an open big area. I have been keeping his cage against a wall so that he is more secure but he is a bit stressed still I think. He's been quiet, not eating as much. However, he still steps up and he is letting me pet him and kiss him but of course flies off me and wants on his cage pretty fast. Today he was doing good, I had his cage close to my breakfast bar and he came out and was calm and then my husband came in and he started flying off his cage and was pretty anxious. He has been on my husband and likes his hair and the hats he wears so I am not sure what spooked him. At the end of his feathers are the ink pen like marks, not sure if they are stress marks?? what can I do to help ease all the stress? I thought I was being patient!

A week is half a heartbeat for a new bird. Hang in there. :)

Yeah, those sound like stress bars... a photo would help.

I forget... have we suggested an avian vet yet? I wouldn't be able to have any peace of mind without mine! Here's a link http://www.aav.org/search/custom.asp?id=1803

Did somebody (maybe me!) give you these links? They're great reading.

nah, stressbars don't appear that fast.
They wil not 'appear' on feathers that are already there - it's something with the growing (pin)feathers getting affected.
My CAV always warns her clients to expect a few after visiting her ;) it's not pretty, but also not 'a biggy'.

I don't have any of my own to show you (and Sunny had plenty of them coming here) so here goes:

(the ones on the arse-end/ not tail/ are really obvious)

Christa's certainly right... they don't just appear. I missed that part. Good catch, Christa.

Thank u!! I should not read everything about parrots!! Lol!! Just like it’s been a step forward and two steps back!! :(. I know patience is really needed on my part

I agree, no way would stress-bars appear that quickly...My blue Quaker, who was 12 weeks old when I brought her home, had black edges on pretty much all of her wings until her first big molt, and they do tend to have black edges to their wings anyway. Stress-barring tends to be thicker, they look different, it's hard to describe, but once you see a stress-bar you can absolutely tell the difference.

It sounds like things are going just fine for you guys. As Gail said, you haven't had her even 2 weeks yet, so it actually sounds like you're ahead of the game...Just keep doing what you're doing! It's not unusual for the slightest little things to spook them when they are young anyway, and since this is only the second week of her being in her new house, new cage, and with new people, it's not at all unusual for anyone walking into the room she's in all of a sudden to spook her. She'll be fine..

I’ve had Bumble for about 15 months now. We’re closely bonded. Yesterday I spooked her by wearing a t-shirt with a turquoise colored design. Sometimes birds are just weird. You’re doing fine!
