Question about sleeping and being out of cage.

I am wondering is if it is ok to keep Chia my GCC out of the cage at night? She is out of the cage all day and she absolutely hates being in the cage to sleep. In my home someone is ALWAYS here and as strange as it may seem my bed is right beside her cage, below her.

Chia has 6 different perches and a snuggle hut yet she chooses to cling to the side of the cage to sleep, whether she is in it our outside of it. Does anyone know why this is? During the day she hangs out on top of her cage and also climbs or sits on the perches. I want her to be comfortable but I don't see how that could be. Is there something I could do? Should I just let her be????

When I adopted Dee (she was literally homeless), I had already had Dex for a year. I was told she was "wild", although I dont know if that just refers to aviary bred, no human contact or really wild-caught :-( . Anyway, I was told to keep the two apart even after quarantine as they will very likely want to kill each other. This was NOT SO!! They gravitated to each other like magnets from the first day. Two females, one "wild", one hand-reared- they were the best of friends and Dee would follow Dex around everywhere but I still didnt want to lock them in one cage- in case! When I seperated them to sleep, even tho their cages were right next to each other they would scream and perform. So... for about three months i did let them sleep outside the cage. They would usually climb on top and cuddle at bedtime. I never had any problems with it, only that I couldnt cover them so I would have to remind the family to keep the light off in the bird room so as not to disturb them. Hope this helps?
As for the clinging, I wouldnt worry> If she was uncomfortable she'd move? LOL

Thank you bells, I let her sleep outside the cage last night to see how it would go and I believe she is much happier this way. We both wake up around the same time and in the morning as soon as I woke up she heard my alarm and jumped down onto my bed to say good morning. So far so good.

As for the clinging I suppose she would move if she was uncomfortable... Just seems like such a strange way to sleep lol Crammed between the wall and the cage.... I don't know why I bothered buying a snuggle hut! lol

Beilana, I used to let Gandalf sleep with his cage open. He was a bit of an odd bird though...he never wanted to leave his cage (unless he was with me of course). I had no fear at all of him wandering through the house destroying things or getting hurt. His favorite spot was one of his food dish doors. He would climb down the cage, swing it open, and perch there all night.

Chia is the same way in that she loves her cage and doesn't like to leave it unless she is with me. Since I sleep right beneath her she has no reason to fly down during sleep time
Thats funny he slept on his food dish...sometimes they choose some strange places to sleep. I can't imagine sleeping on my dinner plate lol!
