Question about ripped off tail

Hey everyone,

I have a nice 10-year-old Rosella who have been in an accident and his tail (I think most of it) just was ripped off of him. He kinda scared and seems fine right now, BUT the question I am asking is if anyone knows if I need to do anything to somehow help him, to "rub his butt" with some sort of medication?
Any help would be appreciated.

Leave the tail alone unless there's significant bleeding. In that case, you can dab on cornflour/cornstarch to stem the bleeding. If the bleeding doesn't stop, then you need a vet ASAP.

If there's no bleeding, just leave the bird alone to preen and care for his tail. It will grow back after his next moult, which might take quite a while. Do you know when he last moulted? That could give you an idea of when to expect his next one. Loss of the tail is painful to the bird, but so long as it's not bleeding heavily there's no real harm done. Keep him warm and quiet for the next few days in case he's in shock and make sure he's eating and drinking normally.

If you're still worried in a day or two, then visit your vet. Do let us know how your bird gets on! I hope he's feeling better very soon. :)

Birds often lose feathers during predation attempts, and this ability has evolved as a means of escape. Because predators are more likely to grab tail. So tail feathers may have fell molted out. If not bleeding likely will molt back next season. If bleeding veterinarian attention will be needed.

If this was from an animal like a cat or dog yiu need to see the vet ASAP and get prevention antibiotics!!! The risk of infection or desth from infection is huge

Over the days and weeks ahead, you will note that your Parrot will change its flight, in-so-much-as, deeper strokes of the wings during landing and take-off's as Tail Feathers are a critical part of your Parrot's fight surface.

As stated so very well above, they will return.

In full support of above, if there was another animal involved, see your Avian Professional ASAP!!!

Damn, thank you so much all of you for the comfort that you give and the help!!!
Will see how he developed, thanks again for everything !!!!
He wasn't in a fight, just some person closed the door on his tail and as a reflex, he just tore them off to escape :(. Thank god no bleeding or anything serious so far.
