Question about primary caregiver being away

My boyfriend and I currently have three birds. A pionus is and 2 cockatiels. He has gone away for training for the next two months. The pionus is more bonded to me so he won’t notice his absence too much. However the cockatiels are very much his birds, especially the older one. Both tolerate my presence but love my boyfriend and love to cuddle and sit on his shoulder. They do not allow me to do this and I have never pushed the issue. I just worry that since he will be gone so long they will be lonely. I spend time with them while they are in their cage and plan to open the cage door to let them out if they would like. But they do not enjoy sitting on me. How do I keep them happy while he is away?

Wow...
You may be surprised at an improvement, in his absence... I do hope so.
I'd say... start fresh with the basics...
