I see videos of birds free flying with snow on the ground. And on the other hand I hear about keeping parrots out of breezes. I'm a bit confused. I'm a new owner and am concerned where to put my cage when the cooler weather comes. Must it be away from any door that would let in cold air when someone comes in? Confused and concerned!!:blue1::confused:

When a parrot is kept at a constant temperature dramatic changes(15 degrees or more) can make them very ill. But birds who are allowed to be in a changing enviroment can withstand it and do fine in ranges from 40-90 degrees

It's good to keep your bird away from drafts but they do fine in cooler temperatures as long as they aren't acting cold. I know people who live in the Santa Cruz mountains and they have most of their parrots in big outdoor aviarys with a heater. In the winter it gets below freezing but they have the heater if they need a warm place.
