Question about Cockatoo's and Specialest

Im looking for a Cockatoo behavourest that will ether come into my home or that i can take Loki to on a weekly base. I'm having a hard time sence his sickness on getting him back to eating solid foods he wants everything given to him in a baby food style, inclueing babyfood We go back and see his doctor this tuesday, and will be meeting with the Medical centers Specialest team and also the behaviour doctor there but i give in to him way to easy, cause i cant see him be hungary after everything he has went through. I'm also worried that he is eating veggies and stuff on his own but that seems to be it. I think i could handle almost anything but him not eating freaks me out, im scared he will die if he goes to long.

I'm not sure if there are people out there that do this for a livign or not but im hoping there is.

There are animal and specialized parrot behaviorists out there, however they aren't very common and tend to be VERY expensive. If there is a behavioral expert at the vets office, I would suggest consulting with them and listening+follow their advice to the letter. If they say to "let the bird go hungry" to coax it to eat the proper food (or whatever the food situation is), then follow that advice. A parrot won't die going 24 hours without food, and a they're going to get hungry at some point and eat whatever is available. The vet or consultant can also go over weighing Loki at home so you can monitor any significant weight changes that could indicate a problem in the feeding plan. Kiwi's vet had us do that with him because he wouldn't eat fruit or veg. Trust me, after a day with no food (through his own refusal), he ate what was given to him AND liked it. Plus, any food always tastes better when you're really hungry. I know it seems cruel, but trust the consultant you're working with. They have become a professional in the subject for a reason, and are probably the best guidance you have for Loki's specific issues.

Edit: Don't forget, parrots are a lot like toddlers and when a toddler decided to be picky and refuse their dinner, you send them to bed hungry and they won't complain so much the next time.

I totaly agree with you Kiwi ! when i go Tuesday I will be addressing his issues of eating with the doctors. The first time around was just after the Lump issue and they didnt want to Rock the boat per say while we where still dealing with health issues. He has come along way in short time and now to work with him pickyness on food. He is such a good boy but so pig headed with food LOL

We have to make sure aswell he is still not making gas in his tummy. Last time he was there, his tummy was bloated from gas. He went on meds for 5 days to help it. That really seemed to make him feel better, but when we stopped i notice that he started acting like he had gas again so maybe that might be something he needs longer.
