I think I have decided to get another bird. If I do it will be sometime after August 15th. I know it is best to quarantine the new bird.

I live in a two bedroom condo with my roommate. One bedroom is by the kitchen and the other is by the livingroom. There is a wide hall connecting the two rooms. Bob's cage in in the hall. For the quarantine period I plan to put Bob in the kitchen or livingroom and put the new bird in the other room. They would take turns spending time with me and my room mate. Is this acceptable?

I also take Bob to work most days, and plan to trade off days of the birds tirps. Once the quarantine is over I hope to take both in, could they share a carrier or will I have to get a new one or partition the current one? During the quarantine I will likely just use the current carrier, will it need to be disinfected after each trip (I think the answer is yes)?

People really shouldn't get me going on the quarantine topic :p lol.
Quarantine for a minimum of 30 days ( the longer, the better ) and shower and change clothes in between handling each bird. That may seem extreme, but it could actually save your fid's life. No sharing anything between birds!
There should be a minimum of 5m between cages, so you should be alright with the two rooms, if they can be sealed.

They cannot be touching the same thing (cage, carrier, person, playstand, etc.) without it being washed in between. I wouldn't go so far as showering, but washing your hands/arms/ears after handling the new one is the way to go.

When I got my new birdy it was killing me because I didn't bring my old birdy out of his room as much as I would like because I didn't want him on the same playstand, or my desk, or anything that the new one may have touched.

30 days is good.

So a second playstand is a must, probably a second carrier as I do not think that I want to wash the current one every day.

The rooms are not sealed, but the air travel distance is at least 18 ft (a little less than 6 meters); would this be acceptable?
