Charlie the birdie, yellow naped amazon and little bird, a monk parrot , and Polly -yellow crowned amazon
I was wondering how many people have both Amazons AND Quakers? I have had my Amazon for about 4-5 years and about 3 1/2 years for the quaker. The Quaker was SUPPOSED to be my daughter's bird but somehow ended up as mine (of course) She is quite the little character! She has NO CLUE she is not as big as an Amazon. Charlie (the Amazon) has zero interest in being Little bird's (the Quaker) buddy. Charlie thinks he is an only bird. Last Thanksgiving we were given another Amazon (because I am crazy and can't say no) but this one has had flockmates before (mom and dad were around for few years) so maybe Little bird can have a buddy? I have to be careful, I know! I learned this at Little bird's expense when she landed on Charlie's cage the first year and he mangled her toe :( So how do I go about trying again? Any thing special that might help?

I have an Amazon and a Quaker but I cant help you as I havent mixed them as an out of cage flock I take them out individually. They have a kind of Love hate relationship. Peter Pan my Quaker and Mr Biggles my White Fronted Amazon flock call to each other morning and evening but aside from that if Peter Pan the Quaker sees Mr Biggles she gets defensive and all territorial and wants him gone once out of sight however she is wondering where he is and calls him just to be sure hes still there. Mr Biggles on the other hand seems more accepting of her (quaker) but as they have never had out of cage time together its hard to tell for sure how they would get on if I tried a slow introduction which I may do after Mr Biggles Quarentine period is over (hes been here 5 months now almost but because of the few turns he got where he suffered breathing difficulty for a short period of time during each of his attacks I extended the quarentine time)...My experience isnt much help to you Im afraid but I wish you luck with your introductions. The only thing I would say is be sure to Quarentine the new bird.

Birdies are like people...they like you,or they don't like you  Or they like their new "pal" or don't.

I don't have a Qwacker...just a baby 'tiel, and I am very lucky that Amy loves everyone and everything. She just loves 'lil BB to pieces,as she did with Jonesy, the 'too...and Smokey the grey lol.

BB could care less. He can take her or leave her, makes no never mind to him
