Hi there
My quaker parrot is around one year old. She is a female as the breeder had her DNA tested. Last night I had her out her cage as normal for most of the night and she seemed fine, we both wen to sleep and I was woken about 3 hours later (3am ish) by her being absolutely distraught so I opened her cage, took her out and kissed her and talked to her for a bit then put her back in her cage. I woke this morning to feathers everywhere (mostly from the left of her upper breast). I got an appointment at the vet and she seemed sure it was behavioural, checked for eggs which she said there weren't any and gave me a syringe full of "F10" which on the label is "SC- Vet.Disinfectant" and I've to dilute it and spray her with it. I'm not so sure.
My quaker gets out her cage every day for at least 2 hours, she has toys in her cage and this is just so sudden. My parents say she started getting aggressive with them on Sunday but hasn't been aggressive at all with me. She has been sitting at the bottom of her cage a lot more recently and has a small twitch every so often with her wings and she fluffs them up a lot.
She started what looked like (And I believe was) a molt at the end of May/beginning of June as two similar sized feathers came out at the same time.
If anyone could give me tips on how to help with this plucking and/or if you think it may be something else that would be great.
