Cosmo - Hahn's Macaw
I started to build a play stand out of PVC inspired by birdman666's Monster Playstand Tutorial. I grabbed a bunch of supplies from the store, but I was rushed and I forgot to grab the metal hardware. Plus I have to grab some cross connectors so I can put a frame up the middle so I can hang stuff off of. I have some seagrass mats and a cargo net that I can use to connect the different levels. Otherwise Cosmo, being as small as he is wouldn't be able to move around. The bowls, net, and mats all came from the mysafebirdstore. Here's a couple pics of it in progress.

I still need to get eye hooks, some different connectors, and some more PVC. So I can connect the cargo net and also add a frame off either the middle or the higher tier so I can hang a swing/orbiter/or this trapeze seagrass mat thing.

Very nice!!! Can't wait to see the finished product! Great job! I need to get on making a big stand for my flock. I made a table top one that still gets used daily by Cisco but want to make a bigger floor stand now.

Wow, your new stand looks fantastic! Cosmo is going to love that. Looking forward to photos when it's completely finished and Cosmo is playing on it.

To do it exactly the way I want to do it, I had to order some special connectors that are used for PVC furniture. They'll be here in a eek. But I'm going out to the store today again for the rest of the hardware. :)

Well its pretty much done. Might change it a little bit after Cosmo plays on it for a while. Here's some pics.

Has Cosmo tried it out yet? :) How's the little one doing?

Not yet, have to get something to put under it. I'm rustling around to find newspaper, since its bigger for the time being. Have to get some from the neighbors since I don't usually buy it. :)
He's doing good, just started to play with the toys in the cage. Found broken pieces on the bottom of the cage and chunks taken out of the one toy. :)

That is awesome! Cosmo is one lucky fid!!!

That turned out great. There really is a lot you can do with PVC for not much money...

I put him on the play stand for a little while. He was hesitant and unsure of it. He eventually moved around a bit but seems to have an issue with moving downwards. He can climb up, but not down. He probably just doesn't know how yet. He is still young and a little clumsy.

Those plastic mats you put under desk chairs work pretty good, and they clean up real easily too. Just haul them outside and hose them down and you're done.

Cool, thanks Mark! Never thought of that. I was going to buy a sheet of plywood/underlayment and put vinyl flooring on it. But the mats sound easier. :)

I was tossing around the plywood and vinyl flooring idea was well. If you get the matts, let us know what you spend on them....

That is very nice. It looks like Cosmo will have a lot of fun on it. :)

We bought an under the desk mat at Costco for around $14 and it's 45.5" x 41" not including the part that goes under the desk.

You could also use a clear shower curtain liner, or a small tarp.

OR VINYL SHEET FLOORING cut off the roll to order at home depot or lowes.
