Parrots
Apollo (8 years old Sunday conure), and Ari (7 years old jenday conure) and Cosmo 9 years old goffins cockatoo). All DNA tested females.
I've read some bird owners saying PVC is bad and some saying it is fine. What are people's opinions here?

In what respect are you making this statement? A little more info could be a good thing LOL

For making a play stand its OK. But, you want places where your parrot stands , and any place the bird chews to be not pvc. If you make a stand wrapping the perch areas with vet tape is ideal. PVC allows you to go crazy making stands, just google the words PVC parrot play stand for images, you'll some very creative stands.

I was actually thinking of playstands. Maybe a couple of perches too. What if I wrapped it in sisal rope? If my birds chew through the rope and expose the PVC, would it be ok as long as I see it within a day while doing a daily inspection?

No problem using PVC as structure. Goffins are voracious chewers, so you'll need to durably wrap and examine the apparatus at least daily.

Some folks will attach a big hunk of wood to any surface the parrot is likely to chew on.

Untreated lumber is OK, just make sure the attachment screws are deeply recessed into the wood, so the 'too cant get to them. The nice thing about wood in a situation like this, it's readily replaceable.
