Ok gang Sophie Stopped eating i weighed her and she is down in wieght today. Things are not looking good. I have no idea what to do for her I know she loves baby food, so i made it for her and she took it but seems to be having a hard time swollowing it. Almost like if you or i had thoughting there and tried to eat and it was stuck but the babyfood might go past it. I have not seen her drink water nor can i get her even drink from my hand. She is to see the specialest on monday but can i we wait that loong ? Im desperat to talk to someone that can help me !

Sounds to me that she should go into an avian vet asap! They don't have a lot of weight to lose to start with. Best of luck to you and Sophie.

Can you call the specialist and tell them she is going down hill. Exaggerate if you need to so they will look at her sooner. As I have recently experienced they go downhill so quickly! If they wont see her right away take her to another vet! And try to keep her warm in the meantime.

The specialest we are seeing on monday is away this week I may have to see a different on, tomorrow. I will turn the heat up more in her room tonight so she stays warm. Well the baby food hurt her at all ? she seems so hungary I have to feed her something

If she will eat it i dont think i can hurt? Will at least get some fluids into her if she wont drink. I hope it all turns out ok!

IF you can for the time being give some pedialyte to her as well to re-hydrate her. If you can get some organic baby food or make some warm mash for her to eat for the time being will be very helpful. Turning up the heat is a good thing and if you can get the humidity to go up in the same room will be quite helpful. You may not be able to wait for Dr. Lutz as you need to see someone right away.

Give this clinic a try as a friend on Facebook used them before when she took in rescues and she likes them quite a bit as that's the clinic she goes to.

Update: Sophie will be leaving for the U.T. Medical Center for Exotic Bird today. She will be staying there for many days ( they told me that up front ) The vet told me she is very sick but didnt give me any other details yet, he just said she needs to go to the center for more help. She was above he could do for her. Turst me if they did air lifting for birds I WOULD pay for it ! but they wont so we will drive her there :) While she is there, I will have to come back home because i have 3 other little ones to look after but i will be makeing trips to see my little baby often and im sure they will get sick of me calling. I just pray she is ok, after all she was to out live me !!!! She is still just a baby too at 1 1/2. I will keep everyone up to date on what is happening with her and how she is doing. I am just so thankful she is so easy going it will make this much easyer for the doctors but i have a feeling my baby will come home bald from the stress ~ :white1:

I am praying that Sophie will get better soon. At least she is going to be in a place where they can care for her and make sure she is getting enough food and fluids! I am so sorry this is happening:( I will be watching for more updates.

Hay everyone , we are in Knoxville to see Sophie ! She is mad that she is in the hospital but the removed the lump and will test it ! Sophie is stable and awake now. She will come home on Tuesday of next week and I can't wait , I miss her so much. So far she is not pulling feathers out but she is very drugged to so that might be why. On Tuesday we meet with a behavior specialist aswell to help with the feather pulling.

oh that is wonderful news!
It's such a relief to have a professional take that load off your shoulders isn't it.

I will keep Sophie in my thoughts and hope for a full recovery.

Thinking of you, and sending good wishes for Sophie's full recovery, Mishcka. So glad that you got her in as soon as you did!

I am so glad you got some good news:) Thank goodness you insisted on her being checked out and did not just listen to that first vet. Bet you are counting the days until Tuesday!
