Are purple carrots safe for parrots?

Bundii loves orange carrots and I was able to get purple carrots the other day in the grocery shopping and was wondering of they were parrot safe? Hubby and I both love them and was hoping to share with Bundii.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. :)

Yes, they are safe. I've given them to Percy and he thinks they are as disgusting as the orange kind LOL!! He does enjoy all his carrots cooked though ;)

I don't see why they wouldn't be safe, it's just a difference in pigment. Might have some weird-coloured poops though :p

I have fed them to mine, they do as was mentioned make for some scary colored poop!

I have never seen purple carrots! I wonder if they are available here?

These are purple carrots Terry. I think they are awesome and taste so much better than the regular kind. They are so much more expensive though and way littler. And with the way that Bundii eats carrot, I would need a couple of extra jobs to pay for them.

Michelle, Bundii absolutely adores carrots. I think they would be her favourite veg or fruit. She will eat them both raw and cooked.

I have been so lucky with Bundii's eating. She will try everything and usually she likes everything. :D

Carrots are a favorite here too.
I did see purple radish here and was wondering.
They also have purple tomatoes now ,all greens wil be purple within a year:D

I've had a white carrot before. It was small, off white/light tan and had more of a rooty earthy flavor, but basically similar to orange. It was good.

Thank you for the pic, Amanda! I had to google it to see if I could find any here, and what I found instead was that the purple carrots have been cultivated in Afghanistan for over 1000 years...it also said it can be used as a dye.
Also saw a picture of purple cauliflower, which I also hadn't seen. I am thinking I don't get out enough.

Terry I read somewhere that the purple carrots are better for you as this was their original colouring. We also have the rainbow silver beet here in Oz. You guys get that in Canada or the US?

Must be a blue front thing. Kiwi also hates raw carrots. I gave him a sizable piece once in his dish, and he attacked it viciously as though it were some sort of intruder to his cage. He will occasionally eat them cooked, if they are in very tiny pieces.:green:

I grow it in my garden.
We don't have it in the grocery store, but we can buy the seeds in a lot of shops here.
