I want to purchase a couple of little cockateils as I have always liked them. The problem is I already have a male Alexandrine; do Alexandrines get along with other birds; how do I introduce the birds. Will my Alexandrine get jealous of other birds. He gets very jealous of my dog and I cannot pat my dog when my Alexandrine is out of his cage as he just wants to attack my dog. Lucikly I've got a very gentle natured dog who just walks into another room when he sees my Alexandrine coming to give him a hard time. If anyone can help me with these questions it would be much appreciated. :green2::green2:

I think if he already shows signs of aggression, it won't go well with new birds. Alex's generally don't get along with many other, apart from maybe a ring neck.

Unless you just want aviary, non tame cockatiels?

If you want to get cockatiels, your best bet is to take them out of the cages at different times.

In my time I've babysat a lot of birds and my male Alex was obsessive about attacking anything smaller. He's normally so gentle that it's completely out of character. He REALLY went for lovebirds and budgies....so much so that he would patiently wait all day for the cage to open so he could fly to their closed cage and bully them, eyes pinned, completely focused.

It was made worse in that he could bend the bars on their lighter cages.

Your Alex may be better behaved but I'd definitely have a trial run before you commit to a bird. There are plenty of videos on youtube that suggest the birds can live together happily so good luck!

Thanks for everyone helpful posts. Due to your posts I don't feel as if I should get any more birds. He already picks on a 25KG dog and when he does pick on the dog I can see it coming as his eyes also get pinned and he becomes super focused.
