Well, the puppy is here...we miraculously got the pick of the litter! We were supposed to have a boy because the wait was at least one year for a girl but the Universe had other plans for us. So...our little girls official name is Foxhunt Southern Grace. We brought her home last Saturday late at night (Long 10 hour drive each way! Oliver let out a weird loud noise once and since has been a perfect gentleman. She doesn't seem too interested in him nor him in her but they are aware of each others existence. I started puppy training right away on Monday and will continue and of course never ever leave the two unattended. Here's a few pics to entertain you...

You have to be SO overjoyed to have her home. What a pretty name, Foxhunt Southern Grace! Do you call her 'Grace'??

Here's to a long, happy, healthy live together!! :)

Thank you Wendy! We call her Grace....amazing Grace! So far, Oliver is not that interested nor afraid....which may not be good. He flew towards us while I was working at the computer. Grace is tethered to my chair for a quick grab....but she didn't care one inch. Again, I'm not taking any chances. I have Oliver quite a distance from the desk. Tomorrow more obedience training with the almost famous trainer! Lisa

She's gorgeous!

She is a beautiful dog. Miss Aria usually doesn't pay too much attention to our dogs, which is sort of a bad thing. She will end up right next to them because it's like she doesn't even realize they are there. Until they are, the she tries to eat them. Or she acknowledges them when she wants to feed them. I think she finds it amusing. She'll holler until the dogs come running, then she'll throw food out of her bowl on to the floor and watch the dogs eat it.

Well it's only been a week since Grace moved in with us but today seems to be the first time she really noticed that Oliver can fly. Oliver seems oblivious to the puppy which concerns me of course because he thinks he can fly close to her and hang out but I don't trust her puppy instincts. I have her tethered to a chair at all times when both are out. The trainer seemed to think all will be fine but she's more of a dog person not a bird person...so I'm not letting my guard down at all....

Congratulations Lisa, Grace is a gorgeous puppy :)! It was meant to be that you had the pick of the litter!

What a gorgeous pup. [emoji171] I know you have to be so excited! Glad introductions have been uneventful thus far.

A good approach. The food chain and natural predator instinct can never be fully trusted. Supervision is always required, in both directions.

Lisa,

She looks beautiful!! Hope your having fun with the puppy stage, we are one week into having a new puppy, picked up our boy Bear (only a 4 hour each way drive). He is a Labrador, and at the moment mostly paws and head (I am thinking he is going to be a big boy).

Bear has taken to sliding under Pebbles and Gizmo's cages (looking for lost treasures, typical Labrador behaviour:)) , much to Gizmo's disgust, he keeps looking down at Bear, but it wont last long, he will soon be too big to fit under:D.

Cheers,

Cameron

Congratulations, Lisa! Foxhound Southern Grace, eh? I like it. Definitely different. And she is beautiful!

I'm glad to see that you are being so cautious with the two of them. A dog's predator instincts can never be eliminated, but I think you are approaching the situation exactly as you should.

And Cameron, the one dog I ever had was a black lab, so I have quite the soft spot for them. Bear is beautiful as well. He looks like a bundle of playful energy. Knowing you, I'm certain you'll be just as careful with Bear and Gizmo & Pebbles.

Now to jump off this thread before my boys see the pics of these beautiful puppies and start asking me for one!

Lisa, I can't believe I missed this thread until today. Grace is an absolutely gorgeous puppy. I know you are thrilled to have her home. She looks so cute standing through her chair. Enjoy her puppy stage. Sounds like you're off to a great start. Please keep us updated and post new photos as often as you can.

Another precious puppy! Look at that sweet face and those huge paws, this is going to be a big dog. Congratulations, Cameron!

Oh my gosh Bear is so adorable!!!! We can swap puppy/birdie stories! Grace loves to get Oliver's food droppings...she'd go for the other droppings too if she could ;)
