Gilbert Oliver, Blue Crown Conure; Georgie, Sun Conure (2/8/01-8/8/12) RIP little girl; Percy, budgie 1993-1999. RIP Pepito-spanish timbrado canary
Last week I had a work conference in Atlantic City and my normal thing for the annual conference is to stay with my friend instead of in the hotels, so my pets can all come. She is off LBI and that is one of Gilbert's favorite places. I brought him to the beach a couple times to fly and hang out and he went into some shops with me.

While in a cute gift shop in Beach Haven/Bay Village, he kept saying "go poop". I said "no, don't go poop". He said "go poop" over and over, so i walked him right out the open door and held him over the sidewalk, and he said it again and went. I put him back on my shoulder and he said "Gilbert's a good bird". The shop keeper was just amazed how good he is. :) I was so pleased and proud of him. He makes it a pleasure to take him new places.

His first day in North Beach for the 2014 season:

A very proud moment indeed (and I'm sure the shop owner was happy too;))! Glibert looks STUNNING on the beach. What did he make of the sand and all the different sounds and smells?

Oh he loves the sand. The only problem is, he 'eats' it. I'm not sure he is 'eating' it but he plays with it in his beak. I have to distract him and keep him with me. I should have packed his extended lead for the beach, because the one day, there was NO ONE there except us. He could have just flown free....on a long leash. ;)
I think he is amazed by the 'openness' where he can see ocean and sky as far as he looks.

any flying thing larger than him overhead could be a predator... So it's a well founded fear.

Gilbert's such a handsome guy!! I love reading about your adventures!

Loved the video- I bet he just loves going everywhere with you!!

Wow, I do not think that Gilbert could be any more beautiful!
I would have loved to have seen the look on the shop keeper's face, I bet that was a first for them.
That video is awesome as well, Gilbert is a very lucky guy:)

Gilbert is beautiful. Thanks for sharing. It's so encouraging since my new (first conure) baby is on the way. Good bird!

What an awesome photo he is beautiful. That is definitely a proud moment. Good job Gilbert!!

I wasn't able to open the video but I'll try again.

Maybe he can come over and teach my flock not to poop on me and the tables.

That picture above is BEAUTIFUL, looks like a good "Summer" POTM entry (hint hint :D)

I could almost feel the beach calling me!!

Really enjoyed the video too THANKS for sharin

When I lived in Tabernacle as a teenager we would take the "back roads" through the Pine Barrens and be at Beach Haven in less than an hour :) Love That Beach!!

I may have missed it but did you train him to say "go poop" when he goes, does he do it all the time? Seems like a GREAT thing to teach a bird that goes with you everywhere
