Progress

Chicky (fma Ricky) started chatting me up while near me on top of her cage this morning, big progress. Just now we were chatting again and I saw that she was thinking about hopping over to my shoulder, even bigger! As she is not trained to or won't step up, not sure which, I may have to work backwards into it...but if she's willing to interact with me that's a giant step forward!

Yes, that is clearly progress!

Commonly, do not see reversed progress with hopping to you prior to stepping-up, but whatever works for her! After all, the process works best when Bird Lead, so enjoy!

She's stepping up now. She usually flies away once or twice before she gets herself on the exact spot where she wants to step up from. Now I'm just having her step up and not moving much as doing so causes her to fly off. We've slowly worked our way to about six inches of movement (meaning I can slowly move my arm about six inches without her flying off but we're still hovering above the cage). It's a sloooowwww process but hey, we've got all the time in the world to get to know each other. Having a flighted bird for sure is training me!

the more time on you, the more it won't be a big deal regardless..

For instance we say never enter a birds cage! it's their sanctuary...but once your fully bonded you can pretty much do anything and the bird won't care less... Just keep spending time and everything will work out.
