Jax
Ok, so we got Jax a few weeks ago, and I held him for a few taking him out of the box and putting him into the cage, and I have taken him out of the cage once or twice, and he seemed scared and trying to get away from me. So I stopped taking him out of the cage. He seems to be warming up to me, and is now taking treats out of my hand but through the cage. If I open the cage he shies away and won't take the treat from me.

My question is do I keep up the progress slowly to get him less scared and more comfortable with me, or do I try to speed it up and try taking him out of the cage more? I don't want to scare him, but I want him to be out of the cage and to be comfortable with us.

Please advise

With parrots it's slow steady progress. The big word is trust. So take each step at your parrots pace not yours. Try feeding him at the door of his cage, because a lot of parrots feel their cage is their castle. He has to trust you before he will willingly step up.
