Parrots
Disney, my blue fronted amazon, is a squawkin good time.
Disney, my rehomed 12 yr old Amazon, has been slowly trusting my daughter and me. In the past, she has bitten my daughter after my daughter told her no (Disney was nipping at her pants). Today I let Disney on my lap and she nipped at my robe. I distracted her and talked to her in a soft voice. She didn't bite. I was pretty nervous because her bite is quite ferocious! I hope to continue building trust so we can have her around us more.

The more they are around us Humans the more comfortable that they become. It's a Catch 22! Redirecting is a functional tool, that said Parrots explore their World with their Beak. So, it is not uncommon for them to Beak most everything. Also, remember that the Beak can also act as a third grab and hold device to help when they are moving around.

Still, biting is not something that we want to promote. But is is important to define where it is defensive, aggressive, supportive (moving about) or just being nosy (investigative).

Remember that time is on your side!

Thank you for taking this bird on!

You've got the Amazon Snob's stamp of approval (love ya, Mr. Boat) so you must be doing it right!

Thank you for sharing! Gee, photos would be wonderful...

Do you know where that name came from? I love it.
