Hey everyone,

I am prepping for my baby red belly to come home in the next couple weeks
and am looking for input on what types of toys, in general, that other RBP like. There's so many, and I am planning on making some too. What are must haves in your opinions? I built a sweet playgym out of pvc already. I have an aviary ready for outside and the cage for night. Just need if the decorations and toys :)

Thanks
Amy

Hi Amy! You must be getting so excited about your new baby coming home:)
My RBs love anything wood, and also love it when the wood is held together by leather.
Really, they like anything they can destroy:) Mine were adults when they came to me, so a baby may be a little different in what they are interested in. You could ask the breeder if there is something he seems to especially like:)
Will you please share pictures when your baby comes home?

Yes I am so excited! I have tried to line up some of every texture and material. Piñatas, wood, leather, paper, etc. so I think I am on the right track. I had a Senegal for a little while and she was a perch potato. I couldn't find a single toy she liked. Then she went back to her boring owner sadly. I will probably flood the page with pix lol. I have researched galore and feel so ready. The clutch hatched the first week of May so it's getting close! Thanks for you help!

Robin has never really liked a ton of different toys, although he does have a variety. His favorite things are links of plastic chain, which he could sit and chew until a link falls off one by one. He can really sit there for a couple hours at a time, every single day and not ever get bored lol. He also likes tearing apart those plastic "rubber duckies" toys. He has a stainless steel heavy duty tube bell that he loves also. My other Poicephalus (Ruppell's) needs heavy duty toys made for a bird like an Amazon, he is so aggressive and destructive with toys.

I really think it's an individual thing as far as their toy preferences go. It will be fun finding out what your new baby prefers best. At first I'd provide a variety of different types of toys. Bells (not too flimsy, they have big beaks for their size, remember), wood, plastic, shreddable type, foraging, etc. Looking forward to your pics and updates once baby is home. Do you know if you have a boy or girl?
