Finally, Rocky has settled in to the point he wants to preen me. I'm used to my other birds doing this, so I was beginning to think maybe it just isn't a cockatoo thing to preen your human. But it is, he just hadn't felt comfortable doing it until the last week or so.
He has also begun nipping (warning pinches) when he thinks there's danger or it's time for an alarm of some sort and I don't react accordingly. LOL Stuff like ... the mailman. The dogs bark when they see the mail truck or the garbage truck and Rocky's crest goes up and he gets all excited and if he's sitting on me, he nips. When I say "it's just the mail" or "it's okay, Rocky," he gives me this look like, "WHAT??? You can't see that this is A Very Big Deal????" I say "No chomps. Be good, don't chomp" and I get the look again. "THIS IS AN EMERGENCY!" that look says. Goodness, what would he do in an ACTUAL emergency????
