3 1/2 month Male Eclectus
My family and I are kicking around the idea of buying a sweet baby boy and I was wondering about the feeding of the fresh fruits and veggies. We leave the house in the morning around 7 and someone isn't back at the house until around 4 or 5 and was wondering would I just give a small amount of the fresh in the morning and then a small amount when we eat at night or what is your opinions on what would be best?

Here is what I do with my female eclectus. I give her some of her special eclectus diet (Bird-Paradise.biz) and I always give her something else such as eggs, or fruit, or veggies. Then, since I am also not home during the day, I got one of those hanging fillable cage toys and I fill that with veggies and fruit. That way, she can nibble on it all day. Or I use the hanging skewers and stick larger pieces of fruit on them. Then at night when I get home, she gets a little chicken, beans, maybe some rice, and more veggies.

I have a SI Male Eclectus 4 years old. I work from home everyother day. On days where i am home, I feed my Guapo male eclectus 1 1/2 cups of fresh fruit. during my lunch, I train and reward with treats such pieces of almounds. After work I cook fresh Veg and slice of birdie bread I bake for my Eclectus one time per week. I cut it into slices, freeze them for during the week. I try to switch up his diet and include 1-2 times per week seed and nuts as a treat, hard boiled eggs without the yoke 1-2 times per week, depending if he is molting or not. I always keep Zupreme non color pellets in his cage throughout the day and remember to change his water at least 3 times per day and make sure the bowl is clean everytime as Eclectus love to put their food into their water bowls. Best of luck Joe

Joe, they foul up the water real quick....then start banging on the bowl if I skip their bath or throw water everywhere until fresh water is given....brats! LoL

Thank you for all your input. I was just afraid that the veggies and fruit would spoil during the day and that was why I was questioning how to feed. Now to talk the hubby into having another birdy again. Its me and my daughter against my husband and my son. LOL
