I just gave Bella her first ever popcorn!
She went wild for it, she seems to REALLY LOVE the texture.

I hand fed her a few bits after getting her to step up, and then I put a handful in her foraging pouch with a few bits poking through the weave. She's already had the ones that were poking out but I don't think she's realised theres some inside the pouch yet, so that'll be a nice surprise for her later!

I have a couple of questions :

How long is it OK for me to leave popcorn in her cage for?

How much popcorn should she be allowed to eat?

If anyone could advise I would greatly appreciate it!

...she found it!

That didn't take long!

That is all my son would eat for a snack, almost every night at 7pm. He fed one piece to Coco my cockatiel, air popped, no butter no salt. After that Coco would scream when he heard the popcorn maker until he gave him that one piece. She probably got one piece 4 -5 times a week for 10 years, until my son left for school. I am not sure, but I don't think popcorn will mold or go bad, just stale, but I would still take it out when she/he is finished with it. I remember stringing it and it lasted for weeks on the X-mas tree. There was never anything left of the piece by the time Coco was finished with it.

I popped the corn on the stove with a bit of coconut oil with no added anything :)

Air Popped Popcorn tends to last a bit longer than others that are popped with a corn or nut oil. Its going stale is the only real concern. Straight air-popped popcorn is fairly bland and really doesn't add anything of value to a diet.

Its only the additives: salt, popping oil, favored oil, etc... that adds or is harmful (salt)!

I make Popcorn about once every other week and our DYH Amazon gets into the action as early as he figures out what I'm doing! He'll pound down four to six pieces and than onto some other activities.

I do not leave popcorn out much more than an hour and our Amazon has long lost any interest after about fifteen minutes at most.

My flock goes crazy for popcorn, too. It is great for foraging, or just as a treat. I give mine 4 or 5 pieces at a time, maybe once every couple of weeks. We use an air popper to pop ours.

Edit: Steven, we were posting almost the same thing at the same time! lol

Let's go with the great minds:)

Parker goes nuts for it as well! So much so I used it only as a speech training treat.i kept some around and only gave it to him when he spoke. Brought him out of his ekkie speech shell quickly.

I've since used it for a few other training sessions. Works great as a motivator for him.

This reminds me of an early foreshadowing of my travails. I was dating the Mrs and the bird was out on one of his perches. I made myself some popcorn. He was pitching a fit as usual. I tossed some popcorn to him. Mrs says stop throwing popcorn at the bird. It was all downhill after that. I'll spare you good folks the details.

How did you ever keep lawyers out of this?
