So I think Bruce is poorly. His non stop slept today and hasn't eaten. I've called for an emergency appointment with a avian specialist. Is he likely to be ok.. like can they just go through these sleepy phases and I've overreacted ringing so early on in the day.. honestly I feel my heart breaking this isn't like him his normally bouncy and happy 😭

an emergency avian specialist is needed ASAP
keep him as warm as possible but not too warm you dont want a roasted bruce
try feeding him some baby bird fomula if you have some and make it a bit thick
offer him his favorite treats and see if he eats anything
try wieghing him using a kitchen scale
its a really good thing you got an avian vet keep us updated!

Oh poor little Brucie, and poor you! Absolutely no worse feeling in the world than worrying that your little one may be ill. Far better to overreact and have him checked out than not, in my opinion. Hoping everything goes well for you at the vet. Sending warmest wishes to you and positive healing vibes to your precious baby, please keep us posted! 🙏 ❤️

No, not overreacting at all. You did the right thing by calling your vet ASAP. Parrots will hide any signs of illness until they just can't any longer. By that time, things are likely serious, so getting him to the vet is super important.

Until you can get him there, make sure to keep him warm, and try to supplement him with anything you can give him that he'll eat. Formula, treats, favorite food, whatever hell take. He's using a tremendous amount of energy just to maintain body temperature, and even more to fight whatever is making him feel ill, so he needs those calories if at all possible.

Sending healing prayers and feathered hugs your way! 🙏 Please keep us updated.

Oh thank goodness for that! Thank you for the update on sweet little Brucie-boy, I'm so pleased that it was a good outcome for him!

Please, though, please please do be very careful to keep Bruce and your dog well separated though. Unfortunately we see many instances of dog/bird interactions here that have gone terribly wrong. Everyone seems to be getting along just fine until suddenly they don't. Birds are just so fragile, and even the very best trained dog sometimes gives in to instinct with tragic consequences. I would hate for anything like that to happen to Bruce or to you ❤️

Oh of course, we are keeping distance as much as possible with rocco only passing on the way out for walks. Thank you xx

That's awesome! I once lost a sweet little budgie to the snapping jaws of a dog - these tragic things can happen in the blink of an eye. Thank you for taking such steps to keep Brucie safe, he's a most precious little soul :) ❤️
