Kass has had a few broken wing feathers the past couple of weeks from just playing rough or trying to fly. Never any bleeding. We always check. He had another one on Friday. We hoped it would either fall off or he would pull it out. But by Saturday it was still dangling and it had started to bother him to where he would leave that wing up in the air because the feather was in the way. If I tried to adjust it to tuck it under, he would scream. Luckily it wasn't a blood feather and he wasn't bleeding. But since it was Saturday and we didn't want to risk it causing him discomfort all weekend, we opted to take him to the CAV and have him pluck it out.
So we got an appointment and during the struggle in the towel, it broke off. But the CAV wanted to pluck out the base of the quill. Kass was rather distressed and panting so we decided to let the CAV shoot him up with a small dose of valium. The CAV managed to get the quill out with much difficulty. He also plucked out 2 other quill bases that were from the other broken feathers. Slight bleeding but it was under control.
But poor baby looked so pitiful! He was so loopy he even cuddled with the nurse that helped hold him down hehehe
Valium kicking in...
At home, dozing on my lap and couch...
He's back now to being full on doofus.
