Hi my name Mckenzie, I would like to introduce Poe my lovely B&G Macaw. He is 5 months old and recently regressed when I brought him home so I am currently working through this with him. I have a fair amount of experience with native Australian Parrots but a macaw is still very new to me but I am loving every moment.

It is great to have such an informative forum that I can access so easily.
Sometimes I take for-granted what information is available online.

Hi and welcome to to you and Poe! I can't even tell you how much I have learned here. Sometimes posts just make me think of things differently.
And your baby is lovely!

Welcome, McKenzie and Poe! So glad you joined us! Poe is gorgeous, sweet photos, thanks for sharing.

Thanks for joining, McKenzie and Poe! Beautiful bird, and some regression is possible once adopted. Was he fully weaned by the breeder before coming home?

Beautiful B&G macaws.

Poe is Beautiful , how has he regressed ? He looks very happy and as said that can happen. We have to watch carefully but allow him some room to grow as everything for him has changed. I hope all is well since this post.

Thankyou all for the warm welcome.

The regression is due to his change in environment - he was also very attached to the man who raised him. It’s also a very calm household here as well with no kids running around. He is turning down formula feedings more often as the days go by and is eating more solids now. He is currently chowing down on an Australian day feast of mangoes, sweet potato, whole wheat, and sweet peas.

He has without doubt been brought up to be a healthy boy. I have seen many breeders of macaws but the guy who raised him has done an extraordinary job. Sad truth is that many people just breed macaws for a profit and don’t care about health. Poe was the first baby of his age that i saw to have full beautiful feathers.

To Scott:
He was fully weaned when i brought him home.

Welcome and well done getting a weaned bird. :)

He (are you sure, DNA-etc is is a he?) is adorable!

"Hello from Poe"? Is Poe a poet, or at least named after one? Quoth the macaw, nevermore? He's gorgeous!
