I'm not sure if this is sneezing, clearing here nares, or just what this is.

the first 3-4, 35,1.01,1.36 seconds she does the noise, the second time, I think I saw fluid come out of her left nostril....in total she does it 4 times.

she seems fine, alert, not sleepy, flying around, eating etc....

I put her right up to my ear so I could listen to her breath in the bathroom with the door closed. it was very quiet, and away from the other birds;

I didn't hear any nasal discharge, or rattling....I'm wondering if she has a runny nose?

I've never come across this before with my birds, so I am not familiar with the symptoms.

I think something is off, yes. She's blinking an awful lot, and opening her beak an awful lot, too. And that noise (which is QUITE audible) almost sounds as if she may be a bit congested, or as if she has something stuck in her nose????

I'd go to the vet just to be safe. Birds get sick very easy and very quick so I'd rather be safe than sorry.

I agree that there seems to be something going on, her nares actually look a little swollen. Was she drinking a lot right before this happen and could have gotten water in her nose? She also does seem to be blinking quite a lot.

ok, now you have my curiosity up....what does it mean when a bird blinks a lot?

increased blinking could indicate a sick bird.... I googled it.....

I'll watch her closely, and if she's not improved by tomorrow, it's off to the vets.

Oh, Beth, I pray it is nothing serious:(

I wouldn't wait. I made that mistake before and woke up the next morning and found my male on the bottom of the cage :( don't want to scare you but that's how quick it is. Praying there's nothing seriously wrong. Keep us updated!

thanks for that Wendy, it's good info that I am going to put into my list of favourites.
I've made an appt. for tomorrow @ 4pm

Tundra is in the cage with 4 other cockatiels, I had my back to the cage and another one sneezed.....uh oh!....I didn't know which bird it came from, it was either Blush or Sunkist....both are molting, along with Magnet...lots of dander around right now.

thanks for the advice everyone!! I learned something new today about the frequent blinking of eyes and what it means.

Oh I do hope Tundra will be ok and she's just a bit off because of the molting! Let us know what the AV says.

Blinking eyes - I learned something new too! Thanks!

Beth, I'm the last one to sugarcoat anything, but if you have several molting cockatiels, there IS the possibility Tundra "just" got some dander or something like that into her airways, and it's irritating her.

If you've ever done a sinus flush, you know that your eyes will water uncontrollably as the saline solution trickles through your facial cavities, so IF Tundra just has some debris in there, that could also cause her to blink more since it's irritating her.

You said she's acting fine otherwise, flying, playing, eating and pooping normally. :)

I'm glad you scheduled the appointment. :)

nope,I've never done a flush before, and would rather not, I don't think I have the guts to.
I'll do certain things but not that....I'll leave that one to the vets.

Tundra finished her molt a while back, it's the other three that are moulting.
tonight I am switching my 5 cockatiels into the kings cage, which is larger than the cage they are in now....but not by much. It will give them a bit more space.

since Angus & 8-Ball are no longer feeding their babies, it's a good time to switch.....ahhh it never ends.....
