Im trying to find some information about my bird. I have his leg band code. NOW WHAT? I have googled and googled and found nothing. :(

Usually leg bands are often used for breeders to tell each bird apart. Some hold actual identifications in case the bird is ever lost or stolen. Here is a link on leg bands:

Winged Wisdom Pet Bird Magazine - The ABC's Of Leg Bands - Identifying Birds

Nalani is micro-chipped and her leg band has been removed. There have been reports of leg deformities and tendon damage from leg bands. It can also be a hazard if your bird's band was to ever get caught in something. Consult with your veterinarian about the removal of the leg band. They can give you additional information and advice.

Sorry it isn't much information, but I hope it helps.

Sometimes the codes on leg bands can help you find the breeder source. Most leg bands Sources ( IE the seller ) will only contact the breeder and pass along the info of the person requesting info. It is up to the breeder if they wish to contact you and provide info or not. The hatch date or year is most likely the most you will get out of a leg band. Maybe you can tell us what letters or numbers are on it and we can point you in the right direction to seek out more info.

Can you give us a little background on where you got your ekkie? Like is it a re-homed bird or did you get it from a pet shop or maybe a private individual? I know one breeder here in Texas that breeds Eclectus, that is the one that I got my ekkie girl from. I don't really know what her leg band says, I haven't tried to read it since I know Leyla belle's history already.
