I am a new human to my sun conure. She is named Blue.

She was removed with me, 3 years old. She is sweet but doesn't seem to want to play with any of her toys. I have had for about 2 weeks now.

I am able to handle her without getting bit, except when it comes to getting her off my shoulder to go back into or on top of her cage.

I have bought her new toys. Made a foraging toy for her. She has toys inside and outside of the cage. But I never see her playing other than destroying her old wood ladder.

How do you play with your bird?

She loves to sit and perch on me, hid in my shirt. Preen me, help rid me of skin tags and cuddles.

She does talk though. Lol, she can say go away very clearly :) makes me wonder if her previous owner ever played with her.

Any tips or advice? I would love to sit with a towel or blanket and just help entertain her and show her how special she truly is.

Thanks

I play with Fargo on my lap, or next to me on the couch because he loves going upside down, so i scratch his belly and just lie next to him.. We also 'wrestle' and play tug of war, he holds my finger in his beak and we gently play, and go grrrrr at each other haha :)

You could see if she likes foot toys to play with! :)

I will have to find out what a foot toy is :)

I don't mind just snuggling, cuddling and loving. I am just not sure how she feels about it all the time. When I am not with her she just seems to sit on a perch and squak for me.

haha foot toys are just little toys they can hold in their feet :) so maybe wooden blocks, leather pieces, acrylic toys ect :)

aww so she doesnt like toys? have you tried all the different types?

I had to teach my conure to play with toys.
I didn't even realize he didn't know how to play with toys until I made him a toy myself. He saw me sitting there making a toy and climbed over to me and wouldn't leave it alone lol! Before that I didn't know why he never touched his toys.

Now every time I buy him a new toy I play with it in my hand (examining it, making noises with and makeing it just seem really interesting). I also carry a popsickle stick around my house with me and if he accidentally bites me to hard I give him the stick to chew on instead and that keeps him entertaind for a few minutes haha.

So I think anything you pay attention to and like so will your parrot, that's my parrots mentality anyway.
Glad you got your new sun, it sounds like you really love her!
