I was just curious if those plastic easter eggs are safe to use in parrot toys? If the plastic is safe, I would imagine they would make great foraging toys.

The "traditional" plastic eggs are fine, but I wouldn't use those glittery ones, or other "special" surfaces besides regular, colored plastic.

I figured they would be, but I wanted to be sure. Thanks for the reply kiwi. I will go buy loads of tgehm after Easter!

What do you make with them, Macawlover?

I found some nice egg shapes but I'm unsure what to do with it. Here is a halfbaked idea I had - you can see that the two halves fit together and I've drilled holes in it with a paddle drillbit and stuffed some left over circles cut off his fave foot toy ringy things in it, but I haven't given it to him yet.

that is a great idea and I will probably steal it >:). I have not made anything with them yet but here are some ideas ive had.

1. Drill holes in top and bottom, run manila through, fill with paper and a nut, tie together... foraging toy.
2. Break in half and use as a breaker or bead in between wood pieces in larger toys
3. Drill many holes, use two of the holes to tie it together with manila rope and the rest for sticks... makes kinda like a star foot toy.

The possibilities are endless and its such a cheap resource ( expecially after easter).

After some experimenting I wouldn't use the plastic Easter eggs. They seem ok, until one breaks and it creates knife sharp edges and needle points. I made toys with them and the plastic seemed ok, it was pretty flexible and soft. I started to think more about what my bird would do to them, so I did a few stress test and the eggs would shatter every time. I had a lot of plans for them but they appear to be very dangerous:(
