My B&G, Rhage, is 10 months old. When he came home in March he got a full exam from our vet. Blood work, disease testing, exam, gram stain, the works.
However in the months since he's been home I've noticed something odd...
Any time he puts something plastic in his mouth he starts bobbing his head and regurgitates. I can feed him from a container that's plastic, but if he grabs a toy or something he Bob's. He can play on the plastic container his food is stored in with no issue. But I've also noticed he does the same thing when I offer him a toy that has plastic that he's never seen. It's like he touches it with his mouth and bobs until he regurgitates. **It's only a small amount if any at all but he'll bob a few times and shake his head** he plays with wood and cardboard and paper with no issues. **Mind you all his toys are bird/pet safe**
He also regurgitates any kind of dried fruit. I can give him any type of normal fruit, but dried he throws up. I've tried different brands with the fruit, no go. He just vomits small chunks. He's a blueberry lover though!! He can eat his dried pasta, shelled nuts, his pellets, veggies, and his favorite thing banana chips (the only dried fruit he eats and keeps in). Give him fresh mango? Fine. Dried? Nope. Fresh pineapple? Great! Dried? Nope. And if he eats dried Papaya? Out it comes in minutes.
He's eating normal. Drinking normal. Potty is normal. Acting his usual self. Even after his 'bobbing' he's normal.
Do birds develop allergies to stuff like plastic and dried fruit? He can eat the real fruits but not the dried, and the plastic he can walk on, but once he puts it in his mouth it's instant regurgitation. I thought he would just get to excited while playing and bob, as he prefers to pick at his food all day in stead of gorging I figured he 'upset his crop'. But it's odd it's only those 2 things that cause it.
