Plant Identification

I recently found this growing on my property. It is growing in an area where i previously kept wild bird feeders. I think it is some type of millet that grew from fallen bird seed. The stalk is a little over a foot tall. The seed part is about 3-4 inches long. Anyone want to take a guess at what it is? You may have to sign in to view the image.

According to Google, it's triticale, a wheat/rye hybrid.

You can search by image on google, that's how I found it.

This was everywhere when I grew up. I don't think it's millet. It is some sort of grass...but we always pretended it was wheat. It could be related (as wheat is a grass)-it could even be some sort of wheat. That having been said, my mom always told us not to eat it lol! Perhaps because she wasn't sure whether or not it was safe...Then again, she is pretty good at identifying plants (it may have been the plant itself that concerned her, or pesticides, but we ate wild clover without her batting an eye!)
Hard to know what caused her reservations...If it was by a feeder that housed wheat or a wheat-relative, then that is a possibility, but I would try planting some deliberately to make sure it is the same plant! It does look similar to wheat and we had something like it grow under a feeder here.

Thanks for your input folks. I'm still not 100 percent sure exactly what it is but it doesn't appear to be millet. Think I'll let it grow a while longer then dry some out. That's if the rest of the wildlife doesn't get to it first.
