Well I can definitely say that I'm starting to understand my bird and he's understanding me and what around him. We're back being happy again 
last week was rough for us but me giving him a little extra space and being less graby definitely helped the bonding process. He's been giving me signs he wants to be active and is back to getting excited to see me wake up every morning, and comming home after work. He's back to letting me in his cage. He willingly steps on my finger (no pressure) and let's me move him to his perches. Yesterday he started letting me move him to a perch on the outside of his cage. I can tell when he doesn't want to play and when he does. I'm taking everything slow and it's comming so natural for us
