Pineapple Conure molting??

We have two awesome conures, a green cheek named Ridley and a pineapple named Phoebe. We love them dearly and they get lots of attention and have quite a vocabulary!

However, Phoebe looks like she has been molting, she is covered in white fluff and feathers are falling out. This concerns me because it has been going on for about three months now! Her color has faded even in her beak and we are getting worried.

Our birds are very picky eaters. They enjoy apples, grapes, watermelon and their normal seed, but getting them to eat veggies is hard. Occasionally, they will eat carrot shavings or cucumber. Once they nibbled on some corn. They also love peanuts and almonds.

How concerned should we be? Is there anything I can do to help her along? I let her take showers with me and flick water drops at her (she loves it and laughs), but it seems to me it is taking a bit TOO LONG. Our green cheek is totally fine and doesn’t show any signs of molt or illness.

Any advise appreciated - we love our little guys and want to make sure they get everything they need!

Not familiar with conures, so hard to tell if molting for certain. We have a large member population familiar so you'll get some advice.

In any case, a checkup with an avian certified vet ought answer any concerns.

Hi, I can't really see any signs of feather trouble in that picture. It is molt here at my house, but even when it's not they loose thoseutyle uff featheres all the time. Their feathers will look faded right before they molt sometimes..
Gotta get some veggies in those birdies. Hot red chili peppers are a favorite of many many birds and have vitamin A, hang leafs of romaine, and try offering cooked veggies. Do they like to steal food from your plate? All mine do, and they will give new stuff a try that way...
Anyway your birdies are cute! Would have to see more pictures to appreciate any feather problems...

My vet recommended adding red palm oil to the birds' diet. Just a little drop a few times a week. You can research it online, the benefits of it.
However, it would probably be best if you took your bird to the vet for a check up just to rule out an illness.

Levi always molts in August, so he is full of pin feathers at the moment.
I agree with all of the above. I can't detect a feather problem from that image. If you are truly concerned make a vet appt. This way if there is indeed an issue your Vet will give you somethng to intervene or confirm all is well. It's a win-win if you ask me.

I also have a Pineapple Green Cheek who is in full molt right now...I don’t see any evidence of molting feathers in the photo but having tried to get a good picture of all the pin feathers on my little one’s head (with absolutely no success) I understand if the picture isn’t showing the issue clearly. As previously mentioned by others, the best bet is to make an appointment with your vet to rule out anything serious...best of luck!
