So today Sammy allowed me to preen him for the first time! I was so excited to get to the bottom (pun intended) of those pin feathers that have been bothering me. The pin feathers were a vibrant orange with some yellow - normal sun conure colors. At the base of the pins they were white as far as I could see. The problem is no matter how much rubbing of my fingers, they wouldn't open. I didn't put too much force because they seemed really loose and fragile as it was.
So should I put more force? I wish I could post pics of his pins but when I tried to pull out my phone that apparently killed the mood and he was back to his "no touchy" self. Who knows the next time he'll allow me to preen him - let alone touch his head. I'll post pics if he lets me
Thanks!
