1 male Eclectus, Poe.
So, felt like taking some pictures of Poe, because he was being decidedly cute and having a great time flying back and forth across the house, spending more time upside-down that right-way-up on the perch I made him, and honestly being a photogenic little bugger.

I also found a photo taken the week I got him (mid december 2012), when he was anaemic due to the diet the breeder had him on. His beak looks grey!

He's only screamed twice in the past fortnight and it was because my boyfriend's mum gets up at 6:30am and listens to the radio, which woke him up... she also chats to him when he makes ugly noises. Luckily her reinforcement hasn't been generalised by Poe into how he acts around me, and the hours training and ignoring the screeches have continued to bear the fruits of silence and cute chatter. (Hang in there Joshua, Loki will get better!)

I've also been recall training Poe, which is working well. He doesn't always come when called, but he gives me a very knowing look when I do... then chooses to ignore, waits until my back is turned, then tackles my the back of my head. Unfortunately a favourite game of his.
I've been harness training him too, which is great. I took him outside and he recalled to me a few times, however the distractions were too great for him for a long time. Good progress though.
He's a bloody good flyer and swoops around chairs, people, tables and brushes the ceiling with the tips of his wings. Considering he has no tail feathers because of a particularly un-dainty start to fledging, his control is impressive.

He also adores baths... like climbing off my arm into the sink with his feather all fluffed out. After a good play he likes to soak in chest-deep warm water, eyes closed.

Anywho, on to the pics.

Haha, I'll let you know if he mutates! (I'll be trading in his perches for a pond.)

those are great pictures!

Did he immediately take to the baths? I'm still trying to shower with mine... he sits on the perch in the shower with me, and I got a spray bottle so I can spray him with a light mist, but he growls when I do, even when I spray from far :/

He is so handsome! I love the picture of him hanging upside down.

I have a shower perch which lives stuck to a window. Poe's not one for perch-showering. Try the sink. He loves to flap, lie down and paddle in the water - none of which he can do while perched. Maybe your fellow is the same?

Oh my gosh! You've brought him such a long ways since the last "grey beak" picture you posted! It looks like you pretty much rescued Poe.. What age was he when you got him from the breeder?

Thanks. He was 10 weeks old... and had been getting fed mostly egg&biscuit with a tiny bit of fruit. He had a staph infection too, so was barely eating at all. The breeder told me he wasn't a big eater... well clearly, when eating was causing him pain, poor thing. (The one thing I can say is that he was well handled by her kids, even if health wasn't high on the priorities list, his trust of humans was.)
A good diet, some antibiotics for the staph and a whole of lot of love later, he's completely rallied and is a prolific eater and flyer!

holy moly Poe is adorable!?
