Does anyone have any suggestions for a picky eater? Im still trying new things out, but so far we have tried ALOT. Kia only seems to like banannas and broccoli. Thats it. Is there a way I can get her to eat more of a variety? I cook her veggies, rice, pasta, eggs and I give her raw veggies, fresh fruits. She just doest eat them so I always resort back to the broccoli or banannas. She's young so if I can fix this I would like to before she's set in her ways.

I have found with my U2, he goes through cycles of what he likes and dislikes. He doesn't like the same thing all the time. Grapes, he will only eat in the early summer, (go figure), he loves watermelon right now, it comes from Mexico but is ripe enough for him. Amigo loves fresh corn, then all of a sudden won't touch it. My husband brought home some organic baby red, orange and yellow peppers two weeks ago...he loved!! them but he won't touch slices of full grown ones.

My suggestion is to keep trying, keep changing up the menu, then change it again.

I will def keep trying. I just wish she would like a little bit of a variety. Thanks for the advice ;)

I think that if their body is telling them they need this particular fruit or veggie at the time, they will go for it. That's just my opinion and how I maneuver around Amigo's whims.

I know this is a little different but I have a tortoise that would only eat bananas. If I mixed them in she would pick them out and leave everything else. What eventually worked was lightly coating her food in baby banana food. It gave it enough banana taste that she would eat it. I then slowly reduced the amount of baby food. Now she will eat anything.

A great way to get birds eating is by making a mix of things small enough to get her picking through things. I have had great success with this recipe The Landing Mash - Phoenix Landing Blog ā€” Phoenix Landing Blog
Also be sure to offer her the food you want her to eat in the morning or afternoon when she is most likely to be hungry. It also helps to feed in meals, allowing a small amount of pellets to stay in her cage throughout the day.

Adding to what rescueme said. I would remove her food at night then in the morning give her fruits and veggies only and see what she does. Then give her back the regular food after an hour or so.

Like Mare said, birds one day love one thing and the next day dont like it. We went grocery shopping a few days ago and i picked up more cantaloupe. When i got home i told our cag "mommy got you cantaloupe" so he lets me take him to the kitchen. I was putting food away and offered him some snow peas, which he threw at me. I tried green beans, which he threw, and then peas again, which he always loves! Then i realized he was waiting for cantaloupe, lol.

I just kept offering my Goffin different foods , different ways and sooner or later they decide to try it. My guy loves oatmeal mixed with hard boiled egg and some yams, lol.
He simply goes crazy for it now and before , he would avoid the dish like the plague !
Just be patient , it will happen, just keep offering the foods and take way the food at night like mentioned above. Everybody has many different ways of enticing birds to eat veggies and fruits here . You are sure to find something that works , lol.
Good luck :)

Thanks so much for all the ideas. I will try ANYTHING to get her to try different things lol. I will def try these ideas!

You can test to take away pellet and only give veg for 3-7 daye. Normaly it should work, the perrot is hungry and eat also the stuf they normaly dont eat. Just be sure that Kia if healthy and the weight is OK

if she likes bananas, mash it in something else like oatmeal or sweet potaoes, applesauce, etc
