Parrots
Umbrella Cockatoo- 15? years old..I think?
So, with all of the pets I have ever had, I find myself calling them weird things other than their names--but only when talking to them (not legitimate or even applicable nick-names either). It is like, the words come out of my mouth for absolutely no reason....they aren't related to their names at all and half of the time, they make no sense! I hope I explained that well..I don't use them to refer to my bird unless I am speaking directly to her lol...and It's practically subconscious!

Am I weird or do you guys have strange names/phrases that you just sort of blurt out when talking to your birds? I have no idea where they came from, but for some reason, I find myself saying the same weird stuff...LOL

Here are some of Noodles' common "nicknames" (??) (I don't even like them haha but I can't stop saying them when I talk to her lovingly):

Chicken butt
dust cat
smally
Coco-bear
my coco
baby bat
lovey-coco
coco-piggy
smoke-bear (Again, they just sort of come out...no rhyme or reason)
baby bear cat
stink-butt
Snooty-booty/scooty booty
bitsy bear cub
Hugs and bugs and loves (hahahahah)
smokey Susan (LOL)
skunka munka

There is one that I say all of the time...and is totally made up (not even english words)... Sadly, it escapes me right now, but I always say it when I am talking to her and I have no idea why---my sister actually pointed out to me....That just goes to show how inadvertent these names are-- they just sort of manifested over time as a result of some weird emotional response LOL!

I am totally starting to realize that I am just totally strange ahahha!

Nah, don't feel too strange! I love giving nicknames to my animals. Callum just happens to respond to all of them and just further my tendency to give him random nicknames.

-I've called him Bubby just about as many times as Callum.
-He loves being called Cae-Cae ("Kay-Kay")
-If he's really excited, I'll call him Bubs McGee.
-I've called him Stinky/Smelly. He really likes those and screeches excitedly when I call him that.
-He's got so many that I can't remember.
-We've got the obvious ones like "Baby", "Birby", and "Cutie."

I tend to indulge in little songs...

The most enduring is called "Two Feets" and is sung to various combinations of notes... first thing in the morning when the lights go on and I do that first welfare check. I have sung this to him for at least 30 years.

Two Feets

Two feets, two eyes, one beakie, one tail.
Two feets, two eyes, one beakie, one tail.
Two feets, two eyes, one beakie, one tail.
Two feets, two eyes, one beakie, one tail.

I have about ten other ditties at any one time, with about half being among the enduring, like "Two Feets".

I can't believe you got this out of me.

Ducky is often called Ducky wucky wucky wucky or just Wuck. I can’t think of any nicknames for Bluebell right now.

Depending on what’s going on I’ve given the boys a variety of nicknames:

Leo- angry green potato, buddy, bub, bro, dude, Leo-Leo, sweetheart, friend, bad bird, bad egg, kid, sweet boy... there’s a lot!

Bluebell- sweet darling, darling, babu, baby, blue demon, blue tumor, honey, honey-bunny, bb, blueberry, sweet baby, bad, tit baby, babes, holy terror, blue boo... and more!

I guess nicknames are how I show my love around here lol

Amy is blay-me or blay-mus. Smokey was Poe-Poe or Smokers..BB is Beebers (he calls himself that) and fluffboy.

Jim

I sometimes refer to my two green cheek amazon as Tweedle-de and Tweedle-dum instead of there proper names.

My Cockatiels as a groop I refer to as “babies “ because they are so much smaller than my other birds.

Bingo, no real nickname for him.

Bella is sometimes my red butt chicken like the CAG Einstein on YouTube.

Some of the things I call Bumble are logical, some are not:

Bum

Bumblebee
Stinker
Beeps
Beeper
Baby girl
Bitey McBiterson
Fluffy butt

And this habit has gone on with my dogs as well!
PopTart is also know as

There has been a noticeable decline in the grammatical sense of Jack's nicknames :D

-Mr. Bird
-Mr. Man
-Jackie bird
-Boy
-Birdie Boy
-Birpee

I sometimes call my Giggles "Poop machine" because it sometimes seems that is all she does....

I call my DYH Bo, Jungle Duck, since I really get to take showers alone anymore.

Oh! I forgot my favorite nickname for Callum-- Pickle Chicken. I'll sing "pickle chicken" at him and he knows the tune and words so well that he screeches along with me. His version of dancing is really fast head bobbing. It's absolutely adorable! He's not much of a dancer, just a dancer.

Salty get called:

Salteeeee-boi
Schmeltz
Raptor
Dinosaur
Dragon

But mostly just Salty.

Well I think this may fit in here. My wife and her bird have cutesie little love names they exchange which I refuse to dignify by repeating but I will share one name they love to trade as an insult - my given Christian name - as if neither can think of any bigger insult. I can prove it, if you'd care to hear, they start in at about 30 seconds.

Kirby, Kirby, I'm not a Kirby, you're a Kirby, Kirby, Kirby, don't call me a Kirby, etc., etc.
