What a magnificent grey! Love the pics, especially the one on that porous perch! By the way, just curious, what's the umbrella about? Also, how did kenji acquire that wonderful name?

Thank you I like that perch too(it's cactus) and so does Kenji,

His original parronts named him after a character in a 80's Japanese game that they played while in college. I love his name, I think it's so pretty. I think Japan is really cool and love a lot of their culture, so I don't mind at all haha.

The umbrella is part of my photography lights that I was letting him get used to. He did really good as long as I wasn't moving it around.

I thought maybe the umbrellas were photo-related. Kenji is an awesome name, very unusual....for me I guess, I don't know too much about Japanese pop-culture beyond hello kitty.

In the first photo, you should photoshop a pipe into his claw. He looks exactly like Sherlock Holmes interrogating a witness! You're lucky to be able to get such good pics of Kenji: my lot won't sit still long enough. Clearly, Kenji is a very thoughtful and clever bird!

He photographs beautifully in black and white, all that scalloping and details really pop. I've tried black and white with Rosie, but she generally looks better in color.

It's been going pretty good, He LOVES LOVES my mom and sister and seeing them is the highlight of his day XD. Sometimes after I get out of the shower and my hair is dripping wet he gets equally as excited, even letting me pet him a little.

I wouldn't say he loves me, but he is comfortable around me and enjoys when I am there. We have a good relationship

those cactus perches are great!, I bought one from the bird/parrot show last year, can't get them any where else, so I will get more in the fall....all my birds love them.

I've never seen them locally here, I got mine from My Safe Bird Store. It was originally for Rosie, but it ended up being too big for her feet and she looked uncomfortable every time she was on it. After I adopted Kenji I thought it would be perfect for him, I let him settle in for a couple weeks then made it his highest perch and he LOVES it. He usually sleeps on it and often sits on it during the day.

He only had 3 perches before, one long manzanita and 2 cement perches. I didn't like how much he sat on the cement perch, so seeing him on the cactus perch all the time is great

Kenji is so cute.I love Grays for their unique color.i think this color does not exist in any other species.
