Photo Orientation

Quick question about uploading photos.

I have been uploading pics directly from my computer and every once in while when doing this, the orientation changes from upright to on its side, even though they are upright in my photo folder. I started a album here too, and the same thing is happening.

Any way to change the orientation in the album? Any other thoughts on what I am doing wrong?

If those photos are taken with a digital camera or a smart phone the camera is smart enough to know the orientation that you took the photo in and writes that data into the EXIF data of the photo but the picture is actually saved in the landscape mode.

This relies on the viewing program to be smart enough to read that EXIF data and display the photo in the proper orientation.

Apparently your computer is smart enough to do that but the Parrot Forums software is not.

To correct this, when viewing the offending photo on your computer, save it. Your computer should save it in the proper orientation.

I downloaded one of your photos which was laying on its side, loaded it in my picture viewer, corrected the orientation and then saved it.

I often have the same problem. I don't know why when I click "edit" (when a photo is in a computer folder), I don't do enything (if is correct orientation), only I save a second one the same. When I upload this new one, it is normally uploaded here (I was trying this on two forums, I don't know if other programms also work like this)

Hello Dyer1125,

I only have this problem when I upload an image straight from my iPhone.
If it's an image I took with my Nikon and edited in PS, it's uploads correctly.
But a vertical (portrait) image from my cell phone uploads horizontally (landscape) to the site.
So, when that happens, I edit the rotation in my PS program, then upload to PFs.

Thanks for the replies.

I'm guessing that PS=Photoshop, which I do not use. My pictures were downloaded from a android phone to my computer through Bluetooth to a specific folder. When I look at all my photos with the pre-existing software on my computer, they are in the vertical alignment, even when I bring them up on editing mode. Its not showing any in the vertical alignment. Am I missing something or is my computer/phone just dumb?

What program are you using to look at and edit your photos? If it's Win 10's Photo, you can rotate them by clicking on the half circle icon across the top.

That being said, my favorite simple photo viewer/editor is Fastone Image Viewer. It's free and easy or powerful if you like and can take care of almost any photo issue. I've been using it for at least 10 years when I don't feel like running Lightroom or photoshop.
